Bike rides and beer stops in Phoenix area
1. Start on Central Ave. & Bethany Home rd. around 10:30-11am heading north. Central has a lot of shade most of the day which makes it perfect for the blazing AZ summer. The path can be bit bumpy so probably not great for road bike.
2. Spoke & Wheel ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/spoke-and-wheel-phoenix ) about 2.5 miles away. This place has great deals and if you ride in your bike you get Happy Hr all day, $5 pitchers! I'm and IPA man but my fave beer here is Oskar Blues Pale Ale at 6.6%( https://untappd.com/b/oskar-blues-brewery-dale-s-pale-ale/10759 ). I often just stop here when bringing friends or being lazy but I'll pass it and continue on to the canal right by it, then head East.
3. The canal - The canal accessible right to the north of Spoke&Wheel has paved roads and underpasses for miles, which I LOVE. There are some trees but unfortunately it does not provide the shade that central spoiled us with. I recommend a nice breathable hat but get ready to do some serious sweating and pray for a shady day in the summer, you can also wait for winter but that's far away.
4. OHOS brewary( https://www.yelp.com/biz/ohso-brewery-paradise-valley-phoenix ) about 8 miles from Spoke & Wheel. I don't often make it here in the summer days but when i do its usually worth it. Can get a bit crowded but they have a solid selection of beers and you can try them all for $1/2 each which can be fun. My goto here is the Dragoon IPA at 7.3% (https://untappd.com/b/dragoon-brewing-company-dragoon-ipa/150791). They also have a cool patio with pups running around, another plus.
